Point Fortin Hospital was the focus of a ministerial visit on Tuesday 16th December, as Minister of Health, the Honourable Dr. Lackram Bodoe, continued the Ministry’s drive to strengthen healthcare services in the south-west of Trinidad.
The visit opened with a meeting between Dr. Bodoe and members of the South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) Board, after which the Minister toured several key departments at the facility. These included the Maternity and Paediatric Wards, the Psychiatric Unit and the Accident and Emergency Department. During the walkthrough, the Minister was informed that all services were operating normally and adequately staffed.
Dr. Bodoe was joined by the Honourable Ernesto Kesar, Member of Parliament for Point Fortin and Minister in the Ministry of Energy, as well as Councillor for Cedros and Deputy Mayor of the Siparia Borough Corporation, Mr. Shankar Teelucksingh. The team also visited the site of the hospital’s car park extension, where construction work officially began today.
The Ministry of Health said the visit forms part of its ongoing hands-on approach to assessing healthcare facilities, working closely with hospital management and improving infrastructure and service delivery for communities across Trinidad and Tobago.
Minister Bodoe also took the opportunity to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff at Point Fortin Hospital for their continued dedication and commitment to patient care.
